Project overview

This hydropower plant (HPP) project is located on the Pungga River in North Sumatra, Indonesia. It is a derivation hydropower plant that uses a gross head of 53 m. The derivation is 7.7 km long and consists of a low-pressure and a high-pressure part. The water is removed from the larger sand grains by a sandtrap and carried through a reinforced concrete channel along the contour to a surge tank. The water is carried to the powerhouse through a steel pipe PN 8.

The project was designed so that flood conditions would not affect the local population and the bridge to the village was also reconstructed as part of the project.

Scheme
